Mr. Thomas J. Gildea Sr. Obituary (1932

SEEKONK – Thomas J. Gildea Sr., 82 of Seekonk passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice House, Providence. He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Jean Gildea. Born March 7, 1932 in Providence, RI he was a son of the late William A. and Marguerite (O’Malley) Gildea. Thomas grew up in Providence and was a graduate of La Salle Academy. He then graduated from Providence College in 1953 and was also a graduate of New England School of Law. Thomas was employed at the Narragansett Brewing Company for many years. He also worked at the Providence VA Medical Center for ten years and the Southern Arizona VA Hospital in Tucson, AZ for ten years before his retirement. Thomas loved to travel and especially enjoyed his time in Southwest particular the Grand Canyon National Park. He was an avid local sports fan, and enjoyed doing crosswords puzzles and studying geography. Thomas cherished his grandchildren and he was active with their sporting events. He always had a smile on his face and he will be sorely missed by all who loved him. Thomas is survived by his two sons: Thomas J. Gildea, Jr. and his wife, Shelly of Rehoboth and Andrew R. Gildea and his wife, Kimberly of North Andover, MA; two daughters: Ruthann Gildea and her husband Nick Langdon of Coventry, RI and Eileen Staltare and her companion Peter Fandetti of Seekonk; five grandchildren: Kelcie Gildea and Teal Gildea, both of Rehoboth and Kyle Gildea and Liam Gildea, both of North Andover and Mary-Eileen Fandetti of Seekonk. He was the brother of the late William A. Gildea and Mary Gildea. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, August 8, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street Attleboro. A funeral will be conducted on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 9 a.m. from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Coyle Drive, Seekonk. Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Attleboro.
