Mr. Thomas F. Clinton Obituary (1943

ATTLEBORO - Thomas Francis Clinton, 71, died peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at his home in Attleboro, Massachusetts, the house where he grew up. Tom was born January 29, 1943, the son of the late Thomas Francis Clinton and Lillian (Soper) Clinton. He was educated in Attleboro public schools and received a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University. Tom earned an MBA from the University of Chicago and a law degree from the University of Connecticut. During the Vietnam War he served in the Medical Service Corps at Walter Reed Hospital, where he met his future wife Claire Oosterhof; they were married in the post chapel at Walter Reed. After leaving the army Tom pursued a career in hospital administration in major hospitals and hospital associations in Maryland and Connecticut, and for three years served as an administrative law judge for the federal Medicare Provider Reimbursement Review Board. In 1993, he and Claire returned to his beloved Attleboro, and Tom served on the legal staff of financial service companies in Boston. He served on the board of directors of the Community Visiting Nurse Association, and served a term as president of the Association; he was an active member of the Attleboro Historical Commission. Tom was an avid Boston sports fan, with a remarkable ability to recall past events and statistics, and a lifelong student of American history. He is survived by Claire, his wife of forty-four years, his daughter Jill and her husband Ted Bernhard, who live in London with their three daughters, his son Douglas, of Charleston, South Carolina, his sister Carolyn Clinton and her husband Sheldon Novick, of Norwich, Vermont. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, August 3, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., Attleboro. A funeral will be conducted on Monday, August 4, at 9 a.m. from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 10 a.m., in St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main St., Attleboro. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tom’s memory may be made to the Community Visiting Nurse Association, 10 Emory Street, Attleboro MA 02703.
