Mrs. Ruth D. Murrant Obituary (1938

TAUNTON- Ruth D. Murrant, 77, of Taunton, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Morton Hospital. She was the wife of the late James Gilbert Murrant. Born on April 26, 1938, in Springhill, Nova Scotia, she was a daughter of the late Donald H. and Olive (MacBerry) MacLeod. Ruth was a graduate of the Nova Scotia Teacher’s College and taught for a few years on a US radar base in Canada. Ruth and her family immigrated to the United States in 1969 and settled in Attleboro. In addition to raising her family, Ruth worked in the family run Clansman Restaurant and Catering business then later on as a manager for local group homes, caring for the mentally disabled. She was a world traveler and loved to read, quilt, knit and cherished the time she spent with her family. She is survived by her sons, Allan Murrant of Taunton and his companion Lisa Vadney and Donald R. Murrant of Uxbridge and his wife Jackie; a daughter, Shirley-Jean Murrant-Johnson and her husband Alan of Glastonbury, CT; sister, Helen McNeil of Hamilton, Ontario; seven grandchildren, DJ and Hunter Murrant, Amy and Alex Murrant-Johnson, Andrea Willette and her husband Lenny, Melanie Amorim and her husband Denis and Joseph Zagami and his wife Karen; two great grandchildren, Nikolas and Nathan Amorim and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Shirley Livingstone and Ian MacLeod Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on November 21, 2015 at 7 pm in the All Saint’s Episcopal Church, 121 N Main St, Attleboro. A memorial and burial of her ashes will take place this coming July, 2016 in Port Calodonia, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
