Mr. Richard C. "Dick" Wilkins Jr. Obituary (1941

ATTLEBORO – Richard C. “Dick” Wilkins Jr., 73, of Attleboro passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Friday, April 10, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Carolyn (Lapre) Wilkins of Attleboro for 51 years. Born November 18, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana he was a son of the late Richard Sr. and Wilma (Meyers) Wilkins. Dick grew up in Indianapolis and after graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Navy. While stationed in Quonset, RI he met his soulmate, Carolyn Lapre and they married shortly after. Dick was employed at Texas Instruments as a Supervisor for 35 years before his retirement. He was the President of the Attleboro Forman’s Club and a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks – Lodge 1014. Dick enjoyed camping, working in his yard and repairing things around his house. In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his three children, Theresa and her husband Lance Dary of Hendersonville, TN, Beverly Wilkins of Attleboro and her fiancé David Hale both of Attleboro and Richard Wilkins III and his fiancée Lisa Thibault both of Attleboro; his grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle and Richard IV Wilkins all of Attleboro and Amanda Dary of Hendersonville, TN; his siblings, Roger, Darrel and Jimmy Wilkins all of Indianapolis, IN, Mike Wilkins of Greenwood, IN, Dianna Fraley of Brownsbury, IN and Jaqueline Hall of Greenwood, IN; he is also survived many nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Felicia Dary and brother of the late Robert Wilkins and Bertha Baer. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, April 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., Attleboro. A funeral will be conducted on Thursday, April 16 at 9 a.m. from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 10 a.m., in St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main St., Attleboro. Burial with military honors will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Attleboro, MA.
