Mr. Raymond P. Lizotte Obituary (1938

Attleboro - Raymond P. Lizotte, 79, of 14 Hope Street, peacefully passed away on November 24, after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pawtucket on September 9, 1938, Raymond was the son of the late Peter and Jeanne (Rondeau) Lizotte. He was raised and educated in Norton. When he was a young man, he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. After his service, he worked at various companies till he was employed at Balfour in Attleboro where he completed his education at RISD, and became an accomplished sculptor. Raymond began his career as a model/mold maker with Balfour where he met Laura, who later became his wife. Their union lasted for more than half a century. It was during this time that Raymond became self-employed, and with his wife by his side, established a business, a home, and a family. Family was important to Raymond. He was involved in his children’s lives, giving them rides and attending their sporting and school events. He always was willing to roll up his sleeves and help anyone whenever they needed it. This giving nature also extended to his 9 grandchildren, making each and every one of them feel unique and treasured. Raymond was a prodigious storyteller, regaling everyone with tales of the many adventures in his life. He also lived in the moment, making beautiful memories with Laura as they drove around the back roads, finding joy in the simplest things. They especially enjoyed their occasional excursions to Foxwoods. Closer to home, Raymond managed and played in the Wednesday afternoon cribbage games at the Larson Senior Center in Attleboro. Preceded in death by his wife Laura Bergeron Lizotte, he is survived by four children and their spouses: Raymond P. Lizotte Jr. and his wife Patti of West Roxbury; Melinda A. Ratcliffe and her husband Christopher of Cumberland; David B. Lizotte and his wife Shannon of Bradenton, FL; and Tanya M. Rioux and her husband Shane of Attleboro; his grandchildren Theresa and James Lizotte; Sarah, Emily and Hannah Ratcliffe; Angela Powell and Jessica Schenk; and Adam and Justin Rioux. He was the brother of Roland Lizotte of Fort Myers, FL; George and Armand Lizotte of Rehoboth; and Paul Lizotte of Pompano Beach, FL. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, November 30, from 4-8 p.m. in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 1 at 3:00 p.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main Street, Attleboro. Burial will take place at a later date.
