Normand Thibault Obituary (1927 - 2021) - Attleboro, Massachusetts

Attleboro- Normand G. Thibault, 94, of Attleboro passed away on Thursday, October 14th after a long illness. Normand was born In North Attleboro, MA on March 1, 1927 and was the son of the late Romuald (Romeo) and Anna (Dargis) Thibault. He lived in N. Attleboro until he Married Cecile G. Thibault and moved to Attleboro. Normand was the beloved husband of Cecile G. (Guillette) - 70 years. He is survived by his son Thomas E. and wife Patricia G. of Raleigh, NC; daughters - Suzanne G. Sullivan of Attleboro, MA, and Judith R. and husband Marc Forget of Lunenburg, MA as well as six loving grandchildren - James and Jonathan Thibault; Noah, Rebekah, Isaiah, and Joshuah Forget. He is predeceased by his infant daughter Norma C. He leaves a sister Theresa Proulx of North Attleboro, a brother of Roger Thibault of Barrington, RI, and sister Anita Killion (deceased). He also leaves behind an extended family. Normand’s first job was to serve in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the U.S.S. Gansevoort (DD-608). He was so proud to serve his country! When WWII ended, he started his career as a stone setter for A&J Tool & Findings Company in Plainville, MA. After leaving A&J he became a meter reader with Attleboro Gas while there he was promoted to a gas service technician and a pipe fitter for Bay State Gas Company (Columbia Gas of Massachusetts)- where he worked for over 40 years. In his free time, he loved spending time with his family, listening to big band/jazz music, tinkering in his woodshop, fishing - both saltwater and fresh, stamp collecting, going on hikes, traveling, building Legos with his grandsons, and was an avid reader. He loved cooking and eating; especially at all-you-can-eat buffets. One of his favorites was Benjamins Calabash in Myrtle Beach, SC. He was a long-time member of St. John the Evangelist Church. Thank you to Beacon Hospice for the compassionate, professional services during his final months. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation from 1 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 8, 2021 at the St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main Street, Attleboro. Burial with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
