Ms. Mary Faith Ireland Obituary (1932

Fairhaven - Mary Faith Ireland, 84, of Attleboro passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Our Lady’s Haven Nursing Center, Fairhaven. Born on February 11, 1932 in Attleboro, MA, she was a devoted daughter of the late Howard S. and Doris (MacQuarrie) Ireland. A lifelong resident of Attleboro, Mary attended local schools and was an AHS graduate of 1949. She worked as a secretary for the same paper company in North Attleboro for her entire career of 47 years, retiring in 1997 from Fortifiber as an administrative secretary. Mary enjoyed a very active social life full of friends and travel. She was a lifelong member of the Attleboro Ski Club, was on several Class Reunion committees and in recent years belonged to both, the Fairhaven and Attleboro chapters of the Red Hatters. Always surrounded by a remarkably large circle of friends from all aspects of her life, from childhood, high school, Ski Club, work, neighbors, and West Island, she always found room in her heart and her schedule to make new friends everywhere she went. Mary possessed a strong sense of family and was a loyal and generous friend and relative to all. She especially loved holidays, and reunions, and never missed the opportunity to celebrate someone's milestone event with a party. Music was always very important to Mary as she was a self-taught piano player (and song writer). She was also an avid Red Sox fan, a lover all things patriotic, and enjoyed refinishing antique furniture. Mary is survived by her sisters, Nancy Withers of Norton, Bette Ireland of San Francisco, and Carolyn Bruce of Fairhaven. She was also a special, loving aunt to 12 nieces and nephews, Carol D'Alessandro of Lakeville, Debra Lee Valeri of Westport, Donna Lee Leombruno of Middleboro, Tom Withers of Foxboro, Nancy Withers Yanagidate of Chicago, IL, Donald Withers of Hamden, ME, John Ireland of Freemont, NH, Todd Ireland of Manchester, NH, Mark Rosenberg of West Palm Beach, FL, and Laurel Rosenberg of Brentwood, CA. She was the sister of the late Thomas Ireland and aunt of the late Robert Lee and David Withers. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 4 – 8 pm in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St. Attleboro. A funeral will be conducted on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 10 am in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Newell Burying Ground, Attleboro.
