Mr. Jose Moniz Obituary (1929

ATTLEBORO – Jose Moniz, 87, of Attleboro passed away on Friday, November 4th, 2016 at home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Maria (Raposo) Moniz of Attleboro. Born on October 24, 1929 in Candelária, São Miguel, Azores he was a son of the late Jose and Senhorina (do Carmo) Moniz. Jose grew up on the island of São Miguel, migrating to Canada in 1970. Upon coming to the United States in 1979, he settled in Attleboro, where he has made his home for the last 37 years. Mr. Moniz was the owner and operator of Moniz Stucco for over 30 years. He was a longtime communicant of Holy Ghost Church, now St. Vincent de Paul in Attleboro. Besides spending time with his family, Jose enjoyed gardening and playing cards. In addition to his loving wife, Maria, Jose is survived by his devoted sons; Manuel R. Moniz and his wife, Eduarda of Attleboro; Jose R. Moniz and his wife, Donna of Attleboro; Gabriel R. Moniz of Attleboro and Issac R. Moniz of Pawtucket, RI. Jose was the adoring grandfather to; Paul Moniz, Brian Moniz, Lisa Moniz, Brianna Moniz, all of Attleboro, as well as Sabrina Moniz of Ohio; and Mckenzie Moniz of Mashpee. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Manuel Moniz, Sylvester Moniz, and Maria Jose. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, November 7th, 2016 from 4:00–7:00 p.m. in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., Attleboro. His funeral will be conducted on Tuesday, November 8th at 9:00 a.m. from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 71 Linden Street, Attleboro. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund, P.O. Box 849168 Boston, MA 02284-9168.
