Mr. Jeffrey A. Barkan Obituary (1965

ATTLEBORO- Jeffrey Allan Barkan, 51, of Attleboro and Nantucket, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 25 years to the love of his life, Mary Beth (Allamby) Barkan. Born on November 24, 1965 in Taunton, he was the devoted son of Walter and Shirley (Campbell) Barkan. After graduating high school, Jeff attended Salve Regina College, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. In 2003, Jeff started working at Hasbro Inc., serving as the Senior Vice President of Planning and Analysis and Corporate Controller. From the very start, he made an impact with the company; he was instrumental in the acquisitions and new ventures that made Hasbro the company it is today. Prior to his employment with Hasbro, Jeff worked with KPMG, LLP from 1987-2003. Jeff had a major interest in hockey, which led to him being the founder and longtime goalie for the Ice Breakers of the New England Senior Hockey League. He was also very involved with his children, being heavily active in their elementary school and coaching their Attleboro Youth Soccer teams and Tri-County Saints Youth Hockey Team. He was also a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, Attleboro. Jeff loved spending time with his family on Nantucket, where his favorite place was at the beach; making memories with his wife, kids, and dogs. Jeff will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor, love of hockey and old movies, his calm demeanor, and his constant smile. He became a friend to everyone he met and his presence will be forever missed. In addition to his wife and parents, Jeff is survived by his cherished three children; Colin Patrick, Caitlin Elizabeth, and Shannon Grace all of Attleboro; devoted brother to Timothy Barkan and his wife Tina of East Freetown, MA; loving son-in-law of Donald and Dorothy (Horiagon) Allamby of North Providence, RI; brother-in-law of Catherine (Allamby) Cardon and her husband Paul of Foxboro and caring uncle to Mary Kathryn, Megan, and Kristen Cardon and Nathaniel Boehme. Jeff is predeceased by his brother-in-law Brian Allamby. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, June 15, from 4 -8 pm in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St. Attleboro. A funeral will be conducted on Friday, June 16 at 9 am from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. John the Evangelist, 133 North Main St, Attleboro.
