Mr. Frederick B. Parker Obituary (1925

PLAINVILLE – Frederick Parker passed away peacefully at his Plainville home surrounded by Lorraine, his loving wife of 65 years and his 4 adoring children. He had recently celebrated his 89th birthday. He is survived by his son Michael Parker and his wife Emma of Attleboro, and 3 daughters, Dyan Parker of Nashua NH, Patricia Rollins and her husband Peter of New Hope PA, and Nancy Parker Jeter of Marietta GA. Fred adored his 6 grandchildren, Bridgitte Parker Zides of North Attleboro, Alyssa Jeter Broderick of Marietta GA, Ivy Rollins Milliken of Barrington RI, Heather Jeter Reich of Norcross GA, Frederick David Rollins of Ithaca NY and Justin Parker Jeter of Augusta GA. He cherished his 7 great-grandchildren Bella, Remi and Maxx Zides, Violet and Ian Milliken, Johnny Broderick, and Hadley Reich. Fred was born in Hebronville, the son of the late Robert and Isabella Tully Parker, Sr. and graduated from Attleboro High School in 1943. He immediately enlisted in the US Navy and served as a radar man on the USS Texas Battleship in WWII. He survived the Invasion of Normandy on DDay and was an active member of the VFW and Attleboro Elks. Fred was honored to represent his country as a Veteran guest speaker at local schools and in many of the hometown parades. He married Lorraine Soucy in 1949 and is the loving son-in-law of Lillian Soucy of Christopher Heights of Attleboro. Fred was the owner of several local businesses: Speedway Car Wash, The Coffee Break Restaurant, and Bubble Bath Car Wash. He also served on the Attleboro Fire Department. Many friends enjoyed dining at his Parker’s Caper Restaurant in Dennisport, MA. He ended his working career at Checon in Attleboro. Fred will be remembered for his quick wit, gorgeous smile and mischievous twinkle in his eye. He was a prankster by nature and his larger than life personality was his trademark. Fred’s favorite pastimes were playing cards and cheering for all the New England teams, especially the Red Sox. One of his proudest moments was throwing out the First Pitch at the Paw Sox game in 2010. He now joins his brothers Robert and William for card games in Heaven. The Parker family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the many loving caregivers at Mansfield Adult Day Health Center, Golden Living Garden Place - Third Floor, and AseraCare Hospice. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 2- 6 p.m. in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro. A funeral will be conducted on Monday, April 14, at 10 a.m. from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial, at 11a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main St., Attleboro, MA. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Attleboro.
