Dorothy Dederick, fondly known as "Dottie," passed away on February 4, 2024. Born on September 14, 1946, in Johnstown, PA, Dorothy lived a life full of warmth, love, and generous devotion to those close to her heart. The bond she shared with her family, friends, and cherished pets was one that beautifully reflected her kind-hearted nature. She resided in North Attleboro, MA for 20 years. For 17 of those years, Dorothy lived in a beautifully restored Victorian home listed on the National Historic Register. There was always a welcoming supply of friendship and dark chocolate to be shared there — her favorite treat.
Dorothy had a long and illustrious career in the healthcare field as a Medical Technologist. She worked for Siemens Healthcare until her retirement in 2021, leaving a legacy of professionalism and dedication. Her work was integral in making a difference in countless lives. Dorothy was a beacon of light in the lives of many, and her memory lives on in her loved ones. She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Fair; brother-in-law, Dr. Ted Yuhas; treasured nephew, Erik Peterson and numerous wonderful cousins spread from northwest Arizona all the way across the US and even extending to Central Europe. Dorothy was widowed by her husband, Jack Dederick, and was preceded in death by her parents, Blair and Lois Fair. Her ashes will be scattered at three of her favorite and most meaningful places — Deer Isle, ME; Cape May, NJ; and with departed family members at the cemetery in Bedford County, PA.
In the words of Helen Keller, "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us." These words perfectly encapsulate the legacy Dorothy leaves behind. Her joyous spirit, her love for her family, friends, and pets, and her steadfast dedication to her work will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. Her memory will be cherished and celebrated, much like the vibrant Gerber Daisies she loved so much.
