    Mr. Robert Rao

    March 20, 1946 - December 10, 2021

    Robert Rao of Attleboro, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 75 years of age. Beloved husband of his former wife and dearest friend, Nancy Rao Birch. Son of the late Katherine (Puliafico) and Armando Rao. Loving father of Brad Rao of Attleboro and the late Meredith V. Rao. Cherished grandfather of Jocelyn N. Taylor of Attleboro. Adored brother of Armando Rao of Attleboro. Robert was born in Providence, RI. He resided in Pawtucket, RI for 23 years and then moved to Attleboro where he lived for 52 years before his passing. Robert served is the United States Navy, during the Vietnam era, on the USS Dace Nuclear Submarine. He later attended Rhode Island College where he obtained a BA in Education and went on to obtain his Master’s Degree in Administration at Cambridge College. He worked for the Providence School Department as a Principal for 25 years and at the C.I.T.E. School in Providence for 10 years. Robert was a member of the Providence Teachers’ Union and a communicant of La Salette Shrine. He loved Jesus, his Lord and Savior. He enjoyed tennis in his younger days, an avid football fan and professional handicapper for many years. The family would like to give their heart felt thanks for the outstanding care given by HopeHealth Hospice and especially to the caregivers at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the Chapel at Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, 661 Prospect St., Pawtucket, RI at 11 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s name may be made to the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette, 947 Park St., Attleboro, MA 02703 (www.lasaletteattleboroshrine.org).
