Raymond H. Gousie, 73, a lifelong resident of Rehoboth MA, passed away Monday, June 21, 2021 at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, he was surrounded by Jean Baxendale, Lilian Johnson and Courtney Johnson. Born August 1, 1947 in Attleboro, MA, he was the only child of the late Herve Gousie and Tina (Ouellette) Gousie. Ray received his elementary certification from Bridgewater State College in 1973, and went on to receive his Master’s Degree in Curriculum in 1993. He spent his whole career working for the Attleboro MA school district. He was a teacher from 1970 - 1991. In 1992 - 2005 he was an instructional specialist and a math and science coordinator for grades K-8. In 2006 he became the Data & Accountability coordinator for Grades K-12 until he retired in 2011. Ray loved to ski, hike, travel and enjoyed music, and theater. Ray loved to take pictures and to research his family ancestry. He was known to have the taste for the finer things in life. Ray is survived by his God Mother/cousin Anita Palardis and her sister Stella Ouellette both of Woonsocket RI. Ray is also survived by many, many, cousins, and his namesake, the 6-year-old Raymond Hayes of Saint Mathews, South Carolina, whom made Ray so proud. Ray was so very loved and special to all! He was an amazing Uncle, God father, and father figure. He influenced so many lives, was the life of the party and never missed any family event. Ray will be deeply missed. On behalf of Ray, we would like to thank Jean Baxendale for helping Ray with his health care and transportation to his countless appointments. We would also like to thank his cousin Roger Rebeiro for watching over his house during his numerous hospitals stays and the mowing of his yard when he was not able, not to mention your friendship and countless nights keeping him company swinging on your swing. We would also like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and the rest of the staff at Beth Israel Hospital for the outstanding care Ray received. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, 984 Taunton Ave, Seekonk, MA 02771, on Friday, June 25, 2021. Burial will immediately follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, 683 South Main Street, Attleboro, MA. Visitation has been respectively omitted. Please do not send flowers.
