ATTLEBORO – Philomena (Moitozo) Rose, 93, of Attleboro, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at home with her devoted son by her side. Wife and best friend of the late Frank Rose who passed away on October 18, 2018. Born on February 16, 1927 in East Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Perreira) Moitozo. Philomena worked in the Attleboro School Cafeteria Department for many years before the City of Attleboro subbed out the cafeteria service. She also was employed by Motorola/Codex Company in Mansfield working in the Documentation Department before her retirement in 1994. While at Motorola/Codex, the company offered a GED Program which Philomena enrolled in and received her GED in 1985. She was a member of the former Attleboro Municipal Retirees and she volunteered at the Attleboro Council of Aging where she helped with the newsletter and enjoyed playing bingo and attending all the social event there. She is survived by her devoted sons, who will miss her love and support immensely, Frank D. Rose of Attleboro and Alan F. Rose of Santa Monica, CA; her two brothers, Frank Moitozo and his wife Stella of Rehoboth and John Moitozo and his wife Cynthia of North Providence, RI; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Philomena is now reunited in heaven with her husband and her loving son, the late Brian J. Rose who passed on October 8, 2004 and her three brothers, Joseph Moitozo, Gabriel Moitozo and Manuel Moitozo. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Community VNA for their care and special attention to Philomena. Especially, thank you to Karen, Lynn, Beth and Gail. “A Mother is she who can take the place of all others, but whose place no one else can take.” Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 N. Main Street. Interment will follow at North Purchase Cemetery, Attleboro. For the safety of those who wish to attend, please do so in accordance with CDC, Federal and State guidelines including social distancing and the use of face masks.
