Mrs. Joan Grace Duhamel Obituary (1936

ATTLEBORO – Joan Grace Duhamel, 84, of Attleboro, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro. She was the devoted wife of the late Arthur Duhamel. Born on September 2, 1936 she was a daughter of the late Karolina Peckham. Joan loved her jewelry, always sporting her earring, bracelets and necklaces. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, cooking, playing on the BCPI softball team and day trips. She loved eating lunch out and her ice tea or coffee from Dunkin. Joan was a fan of boats and would treasure her time out on the Bay Queen, enjoying an afternoon boat ride and lunch. Never a shy one, Joan would always be social with people at picnics, banquets and holiday parties. If she met someone new wearing a wedding band, she’d always ask them “Are you married?”. Another popular phrase she’d say was “You’re my friend, you’re my friend.”. Joan was always the last one off the dance floor and loved music. She had a wonderful spirit and always stayed spunky and on the go. Her smile and willingness to try new things in life was infectious. Joan was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Attleboro for many years and worked most of her life at Attleboro Enterprises (AEI). She is survived by her cousin, Evelyn Pelletier, dear friend, Debbie DosSantos, her three housemates and her loving caregivers, Linda A., Alison N., James A., Yemi O., Moses M., Ojuku T., Yusuf, Maria C. and Linda M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 12 – 12:30 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2021 at the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro, MA. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 12:30 pm. A private burial will follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Attleboro.
