ATTLEBORO - Jay Sager passed away peacefully on August 6th with her family at her side. She was born Jeanette Christine Johnson in Norwood, Massachusetts in 1929, the daughter of Gladys (nee Johnson) & Henry Johnson. She attended Norwood High School and received a degree in Psychology from Upsala College. “Mrs. Sager” was a substitute teacher and later a full time teacher at Hyman Fine Elementary. After graduate work in Interior Design at Providence College, she ran her own design business for 14 years. She and Dick spent two wonderful years in the Netherlands, exploring Europe and making lifelong friends. Jay loved to read and was a passionate member of the Friends of the Library. Since 1956 she spent summers on Lake Winnipesaukee, raising children and grandchildren who share her love of the lake. She skied in the winter, sailed in the summer and played bridge with her pals year round. Jay was a long time member of Second Congregational Church in Attleboro. She belonged to AAUW, the North Purchase Club and Martha Circle. She was a Hospice volunteer, president of Celebrity Nights and a founding member of Bristol North Investors Club. She leaves her dear husband of 67 years, Dick, daughter Samantha (Mark), son Bill (Mary Ann), grandchildren Erik (Colleen), Taylor Marie, Kevin, Artem and Anya. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Warren. Her memorial service will be Friday, August 17th, 11:00 am at Second Congregational Church, 50 Park St, Attleboro. (Jay asked us to wear bright colors, no black.) A reception will follow at the Florence Sweet House, 44 Peck St, Attleboro.
