Mr. Gilbert (Gil) Fernandes

ATTLEBORO - Gilbert (Gil) Fernandes, 83, of Attleboro, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, January 17, 2021. Born in Attleboro on August 29, 1937, he was the son of the Late Dennis Sr. and Olive (Pimentel) Fernandes. Gil was raised in Attleboro and enlisted in the United States Army in 1956. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Gil was employed for many years for the City of Attleboro Highway Department. He retired twenty-two years ago and then worked part time at Car Quest for a couple of years. He was a former member of the Lonicut Beagle Club and the Moose Club both of Attleboro. Gil was an accomplished drummer in his brothers’ band, “The Jets Originals” in the 1970’s. He enjoyed golfing and watching the New England Patriots. In his later years, he took pleasure in planting and maintaining a vegetable garden at his daughter’s home. Gil was an avid fan of Elvis and was a jokester who loved playing pranks. Gil is survived by his beloved children; daughters, Beverly Fernandes of Attleboro, Denise Fernandes of Pawtucket, RI, his two sons Tony Fernandes and wife Julie of Attleboro and David Fernandes of Florida; his brother, Raymond Fernandes and his wife Winnie of Attleboro; grandchildren, Sean, Nicholas, Brandon and Maxwell Fernandes; he also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. He is the brother to the Late Arthur Fernandes and Dennis Fernandes Jr. All services will be held privately.
