March 1, 1949 - April 11, 2022
Donna D. (Martelli) Morin, 73, a lifelong resident of Attleboro, died at home on Monday April 11, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Prior to her passing, Donna endured a courageous two-year battle with cancer. She was the proud and devoted wife of William J. Morin, with whom she shared close to fifty years of marriage. Born in Attleboro, Donna was the only child of the late Chester and Rosalind (Conlon) Martelli. Following her graduation from Attleboro High School, class of 1967, Donna received her Bachelor of Arts in Classics from the College of New Rochelle in 1971. Soon thereafter, Donna began teaching, and never stopped for the next forty years. Donna firmly believed in the transformative power of education. Whether teaching Latin at Medfield High School, English to middle school students or at Quincy Community College, or simply working with her grandchildren during the pandemic, Donna was a phenomenal teacher. Following her retirement in 2013, Donna and Bill spent the next decade traveling extensively, including stops in Berlin, Transylvania, Dubrovnik, Tel Aviv and St. Petersburg among others. She never lost her passion for language, culture and the arts. Donna was also a voracious reader, a gifted gardener and simply loved spending time with family and friends at her summer home in Mattapoisett, MA. Her greatest joy however was spending time with her four grandchildren. No matter the event, if the grandchildren were there, so was Donna. Besides her loving husband, Donna is survived by three sons, Eric F. Morin of Providence, RI, Thomas G. Morin and his wife Mindy Morin of Attleboro, and William J. Morin, Jr. and his wife Sheena M. Morin, also of Attleboro, as well as nieces, nephews and many devoted friends. “Nana” is also survived by her grandsons Coby T. Morin, Reece C. Morin and William A. Morin as well as her granddaughter, Savannah R. Morin. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for Donna’s visitation on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, from 4 to 8 PM at the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 20th at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main Street, Attleboro, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Attleboro. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donna’s memory may be made to the Hebron Village Food Pantry, located at 11 Sanford Street, Attleboro, Massachusetts, (www.Hebronfoodpantry.org).
